Does IPL Work on Faded Age Spots?

I had 3 IPL treatments on my face. The first two worked and the 3rd one did absolutely nothing! Is it possible that it doesn't work on faded age spots (I still have many on my face)or do you think the machine wasn't set right?

A: IPL for brown spots

Each brown spot is different and depending upon the depth of the pigment within the area treated will dictate the effectiveness of treatment. In other words, if pigment is deeper than the IPL reaches it will not work, if it is superficial you will have better chance of it working.

How Does IPL Hair Removal Work?

IPL hair removal - how does it work? What makes it different from other hair removal methods?

A: IPL Hair Reduction

IPL and Lasers both use light absorption to generate the heat within hair follicles to cause them to fall out. The difference is in the spectrum. IPL uses the full light spectrum (think of a strong flashbulb) whereas lasers deliver a specific wavelength of light (red, blue, green). Both can lead to hair loss when used properly. IPL may take more treatments than a laser, but may also be less expensive in the long run.

IPL for Stretch Marks?

Does IPL work for stretch marks? I'm currently using Retin-A and not seeing the stretch lines disappearing?  Maybe a bit lighter, but the lines are still really visible.

A: IPL for stretch marks

Stretch marks are very difficult to remove with laser. Although some cite excellent results, realistic expectations must be managed. Many different treatments are available and have been tried including retin A. Often times only the redness or purple color in the marks respond to interventions.
