Is it a good idea to have a lateral Brow lift along with a Facelift?

When a person has a facelift, is it a good idea to also have a lateral browlift, to open up and eyes and decrease the excess on the lateral brow whish is common after a facelift only procedure? Thank you.

A: Facelift and Lateral BrowLift

The answer depends on the indications on the individual patient.  However, I agree with Dr. Mayer that a lateral brow lift is rarely a superior procedure to a more complete brow lift (Endoscopic or Trichophytic).

Internal Brow Lift with Upper Eyelid Surgery?

I have interviewed several doctors concerning surgery on my upper eyelids. All of them said I would only need excess skin removed but one of them suggested doing an internal brow lift at the same time. I am already nervous about this operation and don't want to do anything that would add more risk or a longer recovery time. Would having an internal brow lift do this? Also, if my brows are sutured to my forehead will it look strange as I continue to age?

A: Internal Brow Lift with Upper Eyelid Surgery

Generally speaking, and upper eyelid Blepharoplasty (in isolation) will decrease the distance between the upper eyelid crease and the eyebrow, thereby lowering the brow somewhat.  This is an acceptable trade off is some patients and not in others; only a thorough examination can determine this.  A well performed brow lift should make you look better, more relaxed, but not "strange".  Personally, I am not a big fan of the trans-Blepharoplasty brow lift; an Endoscopic or Trichophytic approach offer a more complete result.

Can Coronal Brow Lifts Cause Hair Loss As a Bad Side Effect

I had a coronal brow lift 4 months ago and since then my hair is now very thin across all the top of my head. I used to have thick hair. Is this common and will it last. I also have numbness right across the top of the head too

A: Coronal Browlift and Hair Loss

A coronal browlift can cause hair loss, along the incision, especially if the hair bearing tissues aren't handled meticulously.  This can be temporary or permanent, depending on the amount of wound tension and cautery used during the case. However, global thinning of hair is most likely related to a stress response known as telogen effluvium.  This usually resolves over the course of several months.  The numbness you are experiencing is a procedure related phenomenon and generally returns to normal over 6 to 12 months.
