I have been receiving juvederm lip fillers for over 8 years now only 1cc per year to add volume to my lips. Just recently I have noticed that the distance between my nose and my upper lip has gotten longer and looks really funny. I also noticed that it is almost as though my upper lip has muscle as it can protrude past my nose now and is really noticable especially when I talk. I was never able to do this prior to the injectables. What is goin on and what can I do as I feel like a freak!
What you are refering to is probably the result of common practice in the fillers industry: placing filler in a roll in the pink part of the lip without addressing the area between the nose and lip creates a bazarre appearance. The subunit of the lip begins at the base of the nose and goes to the chin. As we age the entire upper lip thins and if this thinning is not addresssed when volume is added to the lip, is can appear strange, elongated and even rippled depending on the injection technique. Going to a Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon that understands these nuances is your best bet in getting a beautiful balance restored to your lips.

I had one syringe injected in my lips over a week ago and now if feels like I have an empty space in my upper right side of my lip (see picture). Will this even out itself or will I need to have more injected to even it out. I also have tiny white bumps in the same spot? Why is this?
you will need a touch up. it will take a long time for it to even out on its own. The other option is to numb up your lip in the doctors office and aggressively massage it to even it out (sometimes you can still do this at a week. Part of the problem is that there is not enough volume in the lip proper. Most of the filler appearsto be at the lip border (the white roll and the cheek lip junction). I hope this helps!

How does Juvederm Voluma stack up against Radiesse for larger-area volumizing, such as cheek hollows? Or is it so new that not many physicians have tried it yet?
Juvederm Voluma is not available in the US so this discussion would pertain only to countries where it is. In these areas, Voluma is being used for facial sculpting much the same way that Radiesse and other thick fillers are being used. It is likely to be used for injections into the cheeks and jaw to mold and sculpt the face.
