I Had Implants Done 27 Years Ago, Not Sure if They Are Saline or Silicone. How Can I Tell?

Is there any way to tell if I have silicone or saline implants?

A: It really doesn't matter at this point

Altho it is good to know whether these are saline or silicone, it really doesn't matter.  In all liklihood they are silicone as the saline would have ruptured and deflated.  I would certainly seek a plastic surgery consultation to have the implants changed since the FDA recommends they be changed every 10-15 years.  Unless there are significant medical reasons why it shouldn't be done I would recommend an exchange regardless of what they are.  Good luck, Dr. Schuster from Boca Raton

5 Wks Post Op, 400 Cc High Profile Implants, What Cup Size? (photo)

Hello, I am 5 weeks post op. I had 400 cc Mentor High Profile implants put in under the muscle (partially). I did not have a lift. Prior to surgery I was a 32A, I had shown my PS pictures and said I wanted to be a very full C. I am 5'2 and weigh 122 lbs. I measured my breasts yesterday and I am only measuring as a B cup. I am very disappointed. Also, although they appear round from some angles, from other angles they almost look flat. Did I go to small implant wise? Will they always appear flat?

A: Fit the augmentation to the body, not the bra!

The cup size on a bra is variable based on the manufacturer. For this reason, we don't guarantee cup sizes. 400cc high profile implants give a lot of projection and volume for a 32A breast. Given your photos, you now have large breasts, but they fit your body shape. In our office, we refer women to a bra specialist for fitting (they are very common in the mastectomy departments of Nordstrom's or Macy's). We have found many women have no real idea of how to try on and properly choose a bra that fits them. Regardles, rather than focus on the cup size, how do you feel about the size of your breasts and how you look in clothing? As for some flattening and contour deformities, at 5 weeks you are still very early in the recovery period. Wait until you are 3-6 months out before becoming too concerned about these issues.

Small Hole-2 Weeks Post Op with Internal Pain

I had breast impants 2 weeks ago. I noticed a small hole on my lower left incision. It's located near the end of the anchor. I cannot see any stitch poking out, but it does have pus material in it. Of course, I am sore around this area but I also have deep pain, especially if I breathe in deeply. Pls adv.

A: Postop issues are best managed by your surgeon.

Although this may seem like a small issue, you should schedule to see your surgeon. This forum is a good reference for general material about plastic surgery, but if you feel you are having a complication from a recent surgery, why would you post online rather than call your surgeon? Close follow-up and bringing items of concern to your surgeon's attention are all parts of the doctor-patient relationship.
