I had a perfect stomach; even after my 1st pregnancy. Now, I just had twins 3 mths ago & there's so much excess skin on my upper & lower abdomen (the muscles all seen to be intact). I have just 11 more lbs to lose. Am I a candidate for a skin only abdominoplasty w/o touching the muscles? Also, if I was to proceed with the surgery would it be ok to have another baby 3 yrs from now if the muscles are excluded from the surgery? I understand it may be best to wait, but I'd rather get this resolved.
a cutaneous abdominoplasty is always possible. the risk is that you dont get a firm abdomen afterwards. things tend to be a little bit boggy. it would be unusual after twins not to benefit from some muscle tightening. dont do the operation halfway. if you are the type of woman who cant wait till after having all your children, you will not be happy unless you get the full effect
I had a TT 12 weeks ago, 80% of the swelling has gone down but my stomach still has swelling especially in the lower abdomen and mons pubis area. My stomach feels tight and it is still pretty numb. I asked my surgeon and he replied, you look better now than when you started. I just want to know how long before all this resolves? THX
i think it takes at least 6 months for all the swellin to go away after tt. numbness can take a year or so and there is always the chance of permanent numbness. be patient
After having two babies over 20 years ago, my stomach was normal, no muscle damage, etc. About ten years ago I gained over 60 pounds. I lost this weight two years ago and have been able to keep it off. I am looking into a tummy tuck because of excess skin on my stomach. My question is, because the muscles didn't get damaged, can I do a tummy tuck that would not include muscle work? That would instead be removing excess skin and body contouring only?
you can absolutely have a tommy tuck without muscle reconstruction, but there is a trade off. you will have a less painful quicker recovery, howeveryour abdomen will not be as firm or flat afterwards. if you truly have lost 60 lbs after having kept it on for 18 years i suggest the plication. it is like you had a 60 pound pregnancy for 18 years
