I had open Rhinoplasty and Juvederm on the nasolabial folds and lips. I have thick skin and have had little bruising, and am recovering well 2 weeks post op. However, my top lip still covers too much of my teeth, making my smile look unnatural. I'm starting to wonder if too much Juvederm was injected in the nasolabial folds and lips, causing my smile to look strange. Is this most likely due to swelling still? I know swelling in the nose can last a year or longer, but how long does swelling the in rest of the face last?
The swelling in your upper lip can be the reult of too much Juvederm, swelling from the rhinoplasty or both. The swelling in the lip from the rhinoplasty will resolve in a few weeks, the swelling from the juvederm will resolve when the filler is absorbed.
I wanted to have Juvederm injected under my eyes since they are very big and starting to look bad. The doctor told me I did not have full orbits, only half, and it could not be done. I have never heard this before, has anyone experienced this? Could it be because I am of Native American descent? What are my other options now, if it's really not possible to have Juvederm?
The first orbit of a manned space flight was not completely aroundthe earth. Aside from that, any of the synthetic fillers are not ideal for around the eyes. fat is best.
I had Juvederm injected in the periorbital lines, nasolabial, chin, upper and lower lips. It has been a week and the swelling is gone and so is the Juvederm. Except for some (uneven) fullness in the upper lips, everyone I know said they don't see any difference. Neither do I. What happened? I went to a very well known dermatologist who is supposd to have a lot of experience.
You describe a wide area of your face that was filled. If you used one vial of filler in all those areas, then you can expect to see a mild to minimal improvement in all of the areas treated.
The periorbital areas typically require 2-3 cc for adequate treatment. The lips can take up to 1 cc by themselves and the nasolabial folds typically take .3 to .6cc per side for adequate correction.
You be the judge. Did you have enough filler injected?
