Tip Rhinoplasty

I have heard of "tip rhinoplasty" but don't know what it is. How is this different from other rhinoplasties?

The nose is made up both bone and cartilage.  The top third of the nose is bone , and the lower two thirds of the nose is comprised of cartilage.  The very tip of the nose consists of two paired cartilages that resemble rams horns.  Those are the cartilage is responsible for the contour,  shape, projection and rotation of the nasal tip.  A tip plasti rhinoplasty, limits the surgical attention  to just the lower third of the nose, that is the tip.

Best Rhinoplasty Surgeon

Dont really wanna go asking friends for advice on finding the right rhinplasty doctor for my nose job. What is best way to find the best? Cheers. - K.

Rhinoplasty is a very complicated procedure and difficult to get consistently excellent results and, therefore, you are wise in taking your time to find the best.  You can narrow your results by looking for a surgeon trained in both Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery.  A double board certified surgeon has extensive training and experience in the functional and cosmetic aspect of rhinoplasty surgery.   Then, ask for before and after photographs.  You want someone who has at least 30 that they can show you.  Best of luck,   Dr. Phil-

Rhinoplasty Recovery

What is the typical rhinoplasty recovery like?  What can I expect?  How long after a nose job does it take to heal and how long before you can go back to work, the swelling goes down, etc?

Recovery after rhinoplasty falls under may stages. When will you be able to go home?  Typically the day of surgery.  When can you watch TV and surf the internet? Typically that night, but don't make any major life decisions.   By the next day, you should be feeling a lot better.  Most patients will have a cast on their  nose, and if you don't mind being seen in public with that cast, you can go outside, shop, see a movie, and sometimes even return to work as long as none of those require a lot of physical activity.  The cast typically comes off in one week.  Swelling will persist for up to three months.  However, you will see the entire result until one year.  That is because the skin over the nose has to shrink wrap and that can take a long time.
