Is It Safe to Have Implants Removed While Awake?

I had my implants 4 years ago, under the muscle. I went from an A cup to a B cup. But I never really wanted them in the first place. I want them removed my plastic surgeon who place them says that he can remove it with local anesthesia (lidocaine) in the medical office. I will be wide awake. Is that safe, will I feel the pain?

A: Can I have my implants removed under local anesthesia?

The simple answer is yes but the more complicated answer is, it depends.  Simply removing your implants is straightforward but many of us will also irritate (or remove) the capsule surrounding the implant so that your long-term result is more natural from the both standpoint of look and feel.

I would suggest having it done under some type of anesthesia so that you can get the best result possible.  Short cuts don't often yield the most optimal results in the long run.

I hope that helps!

Do You Recommend a Breast Lift w/ Implant Removal?

At 18 & a 32C I got implants to a full D. Now 33 with 2 children I am a 32F. I want to have my implant removed, would you recommend a lift? Also would it be difficult to guesstimate my size after the removal? Thx

A: Do I need a breast lift after implant removal?

I would agree with deflating your saline implants in the office, waiting 4-6 weeks, and then seeing how much the skin has retracted on its own.  In many cases, unless you currently have very large implants or your skin is very loose, you may be able to avoid a lift.

As for your final cup size, there is very little that anyone can do to accurately prdict this before surgery.

I hope that helps!

Removal of 40yr Old Ruptured Silicone Imp for 80 Year Old-nobreast Tissue Left from Fibroc

I had most of breast tissue removed in 1970 from fibrocystic breast disease -at that time everything was yanked -had silicone implants - over time they calcified but no problems - last year I had a really rough mammogram and the left one ruptured - painful with huge hard knots - I am 80 years old and don't require replacements at my age - my internal med doc said they must come out and I am scheduled for a ultra sound at breast clinic next week complications have me worried -I am 80 yrs betty d

A: Removal of rupture silicone breast implant

The procedure for removing your implant(s) is actually pretty straightforward; the only increased risk is your age.  My recommendation is to undergo full medical clearance before moving forward to make sure that these risks are understood and any increase managed before your surgery.

I hope that helps!
