I would like to try this peel and I saw that it's possible to buy it without prescription. Is it dangerous to use without consulting a dermatologist?
I would definitely recommend that you first see a dermatologist to get on topical and/or oral meds to control your acne. Sal peels are great to expedite the process of cleaning out your skin, and can help prevent new pimples from forming, but you should not rely on them solely as your acne regimen. Your homecare regimen is very importany in maintaining the results of the peels. After you see your dermatologist you can talk to an aesthetician who has experience with peels (make certain they are comfortable doing them with your skin type) to help control your oil production and clear up your skin a little faster. Good luck!
Can I have electrolysis treatments after a series of chemical peels? If I do would it ruin the results of the peels and roughen my skin? And also does it matter if its a mild peel, medium peel, or deep peel? I have'nt done any peels yet just hypotheically speaking.
There are many different types of chemical peels, and many different concentrations. These can be great treatments for sundamage (pigment and mild wrinkles) as well as acne and melasma. But, we generally make sure that patients don't have irritated skin when these peels are done. It is best to wait a couple of weeks after electrolysis to make sure the skin and follicular structures have recovered. We also often discontinue topical retinoids (like tretinoin/RetinA) a week or so before most peels.
I've got scars due to pimples but not too much. I want permanent solution to get rid of the scars. Is chemical peel a permanent solution? If not, what are treatments are available without any side effects?
Chemical peels are a great option for active acne, to clear up the skin and to prevent further scarring from occurring. However, if you have acne scarring, the chemical peels may help with pigmentation (assuming you are correctly using an appropriate SPF and a hat, of course) caused by acne, but the scars will probably be softened, at best. The best chance you have of smoothing out acne scars would be doing a combination of therapies such as chemical peels to keep you clear, derma rolling and lasers... You can have some success with smoothing out your skin to a satsifactory level if you undergo that type of aggressive tx regimen. It is important to remember that the scars will probably never fully disappear and there will be maintenance in the future to consider.
