Vaser Lipo Vs. Traditional Liposuction - What Are the Pros and Cons?

I am having a tummy tuck and liposuction on my flanks and thighs, my board certified plastic surgeon performs vaser lipo but the medical assistant says I am scheduled for traditional liposuction. I have a preop today and would like to address this topic. Your help is appreciated. I am 4'11 and weigh 110 pounds,I am a very hippy girl with a small waist. I have "saddlebags" and love handles along with a stretched out stomache due to my pregnancies. Is there a reason why an experience surgeon would prefere to perform regular lipo over vaser?

A: Vaser vs. Traditional Liposuction

VASER is the latest evolution of devices using ultrasound to liquefy fat before it is removed from the body with suction.

VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance, which basically means ultrasound. The name is catchy and sounds like LASER, which, by contrast, uses amplified light to dissolve fat.

Many of us prefer VASER because the ultrasound appears to be more highly selective in targeting and liquefying the fat, minimizing risks of injury to the blood vessels and nerves. This selectivity for liquefying the fat cells means less tearing and injury to surrounding tissue, resulting in less bleeding, bruising and pain.

Still, the most important element in your success from surgery is the surgeon, much more than the specific tool or technique. Experts do not always agree on technique, yet can produce consistently comparable results.

Flying After Vaser Lipo

i am flying into istanbul and having vaser lipo will it be safe to fly again the next day and then again a week later ,i am getting very differnt answers , i have tried to get vaser done in izmir or bodrum so that i dont have to fly and just have a 3 hour drive ,but it is only an 1hr 20 min flight from istanbul,i can get liposuction any where but i can only get the vaser in istanbul, realy not sure what to do as it depends on he company who are selling the procedure what they say is safe. help

A: Not Wise to Fly the Day After Procedure

I recommend against flying the day after your procedure.

Concerns can include increased risk for developing dangerous blood clots.

You'll want to be in close proximity to your surgeon for the first few days for follow-up and to address concerns, detect healing problems.
