Tca Peel and Anesthesia

What is the strongest % TCA peel that can be used on the face without the use of anesthesia or pain pills.

A: TCA peels and pain management

TCA comes in many different strengths.  When you get to 35% or higher then pain is going to need to be managed,  That being said, I have some patients who need no anesthesia when I perform a 35% TCA peel but they are rare. In general, 4 nerve block injections do well to minimize much of the discomfort.  The peel is short lived and after pain control is not needed. Be sure you have an experienced dermatologist performing your chemical peels with TCA as they can scar if done inproperly.

Can TCA be Used on a Fair Complexion which Tans Easily?

My complexion is fair & tans easily w/ little burning if protected. I heal very well, get little to no scaring. I've been avoiding the sun since late summer 2010 after a Dr visit where I was told I was too olive for TCA. I'm not olive, I was just end of FL summer tanned. So now I'm faded again & trying to re-visit TCA. A lifelong sun worshiper, I now have brown/sun spots on my face. Not too bad but they're on my face. Is TCA really not for Miami's freckled &fair who tans easily?

A: TCA for fair skin who tans easily

TCA comes in different strengths. The medium depth strength of 35% should still be safe for someone who is fair skinned. You need to see a dermatologist who is trained in cosmetic procedures to get safe optimal results .

What's Better for Pock Marks - TCA or Glycolic Peel?

What's better for pock marks, tca or glycolic acid

A: Pock Mark Treatment

What you call pock marks may mean one thing to you and another thing to someone else.  In general glycolic acid peels will do nothing for scarring.  The stronger TCA peels go deeper and can help improve scarring and pock marks. i wouldnt waste my time with glycolic acid peels and be sure your treating doctor is experienced with TCA as it can scar if used in too high of concentrations or applied in too many coats.
