The cost for your filler treatments usually are based on either the area being treated or the amount of syringes needed. Be aware that in inexperienced hands an area that may be nicely filled with one syringe may require at least 2 if placed incorrectly. Also note that prices will likely be less expensive in offices with less expereinced injectors. The old adage "you get what you pay for" is never more true than in the world of cosmetic procedures. You should seek out a board certified dermatologist or facial plastic surgeon in your area who has done a fellowship in facial fillers and cosmetics. The requirements in London may be slightly different as to who can inject but the best advice is ask a friend who has been injected to give a good reference and if the prices are still manageable focus on the results rather than the least expensive option.
I thought Perlane was supposed to last longer than other non-permanent wrinkles fillers, but a lot of the Perlane reviews on this site say that it didn't last very long. How long is Perlane supposed to last?
Perlane has lasted years in some of my patients and 6 to 9 months in others. It lasts longer if it is placed in the dermis as indicated. If placed too deep it will be gone in months. Be sure you are being injected by an experienced MD.
Is Juvederm or Perlane is better for nasolabial folds? How long does each product last when used for naso labial folds (manufacturer ratings)?
This is a great question and one which will be answered differently by different physicians which should indicate to you that for the most part they are fairly equal. Remember that Juvederm has 2 different types (Ultra and Ultra Plus) They do not last equally in my experience and most will agree that Ultra Plus easily outlasts Ultra. Expect Perlane and Juvederm to last around 12 months. Both seem to stimulate your own natural collagen growth which may be why we see what appears to be even longer duration than manufacturer states. A recent study for Restylane which is almost identical to Perlane (made by the same company with same product just smaller particles) showed that a second injection resulted in significant improvement lasting well over one year for the nasolabial folds. They also found that your second injection often requires only half the amount that was needed for full correction on your first treatment. This is true for my patients and I have personally seem Restylane and perlane last over 2 years in some patients.
