I currently went through and IPL treatment it has been three weeks since the treatment. I still have facial redness in spots which is highly magnified since my facial hair will not grow back and has left huge patches in my beard. This is very troublesome to myself as they patches are very noticeable even after a shave my facial hair grows very fast and i cant stand the empty patches all over my face. I had IPL for acne scars years ago various treatment never losing hair is this permanent?
The IPL treatments are often used for hair removal purposes and this is a standard discussion I have with male and female patients undergoing IPL for redness or brown spots etc. Most men dont mind the potential for hair loss since they would prefer not to shave and the women find this just to be a bonus for them. In your case, the patchiness of your hair loss may not be acceptable to you. You should discuss this with your treating doctor and see what can be done. That being said, no hair removal lasers are truly permanent and hairs usually will grow back . It may take years, however, and they will likely be thinner and less dark if they do come back. For you to be able to grow a full beard may be unlikely.
I'm having facial ipl. however i have heard that ipl may increase hair growth in the chin causing a long hair peach effect. is it right? thank you in advance alexandra greece
All laser hair removal devices carry the risk of making hair growth worse if used at too light of a setting. It is thought that the suboptimal dose may create a survival mode to the hair. This is how many new devices are coming to the market to try to treat balding by using low heat levels. So that being said, an IPL or BBL used at appropriate levels should not cause a problem unless you have some underlying medical condition that is causing excessive hair growth unrelated to the laser
i hav had 5 treatments with medlite laser and no results so my derm is going to use ipl will i get any results ?
The Becker's nevus has several different components. In the epidermis, there is pigmentation that may be targeted by IPL. There is also often hair growth as well that can be targeted with IPL. Deeper in the skin (the dermis) there are smooth muscle cells that cannot be targeted by IPL. So it is possible that you may see some improvement. I would not sign up for a package , I would try a single treatment and be very observant as to whether it lightens and any progress is made before committing to mulitple treatments... good luck.
