I went to see an opthamologist, and he says that my eyes are fine. What is causing the heavyness above my eyes then? Again, I do not have droopy eye lids and my injections were at the crow's feet.
You report that you have no droop so what you are experiencing is just the feeling of having lost the ability to fully contract the eye muscles laterally. This is often described as a heaviness until you get used to it and should not be a problem based on what you are describing and your visit to the eye doctor. If you do not like the feeling then maybe meeting witha cosmetic dermatologist with laser training will help to give you an option that is more long-lasting and will have other side effects that may be more acceptable to you. Good luck
One of my friends was telling me she heard something about a Dysport rebate similar to what Botox has done in the past. Is this true that a Dysport rebate is being offered right now?
The current Dysport rebate is called the "Dysport Challenge." What is interesting is that the company will pay you 75$ for trying their product. They will also pay you another 75$ at your next treatment whether you choose to go back to Botox or stay with Dysport. I have never seen something like this in our field and so it is exciting to see a company who is so confident in their product. So far it has proven to be an outstanding product. As you can read on other posts by other plastic surgeons and dermatologists, they feel that Dysport lasts longer than Botox and I agree with this assessment at similar priced injections although in some patients the difference may be small. I have done a side by side injection and have seen a significant difference with Dysport lasting a month longer than the Botox side. However, a large study of side to side injections will be the only way to settle this debate though but in general you should expect at least equivalent results. Keep us posted on your experience and be sure your injector is experienced with both products.
I'm considering getting Dysport but I want to know what the typical recovery is like. Is a couple of hours enough? Or will there be bruising or swelling that will require a longer downtime?
I agree with the other doctors who say that bruising can occur anytime a needle enters the skin. Other than that there is usually a small area that is raised for 10-20 minutes after the injection where the saline remains until absorbed. As far as swelling this is really not a common side effect and so we usually say that the "downtime" with Dysport is essentially none.
