Rhinoplasty 3 Months Ago and I Feel Like It Looks Like the Same Nose.

I had a prominent but straight nose that appeared as if it pointed down. I felt was too much of a focal point on my face. It has now been 3 months and I feel that although the nose looks good on my face, the surgenoun was too conservative. It still sticks out too far. Some people notice "something different" some don't notice at all. Is 3 months too early to say I am not happy with my result? Very frustrated - I had surgery that I paid for; there should be more of a change.

A: Rhinoplasty results take time.

As has been mentioned, rhinoplasty results take time. The often quoted period is about 1 year. However, the nose can continue to change ever so subtly and slowly over an even longer period than one year. Generally, the thicker the skin, the longer it takes to completely settle. Patience is your friend at this point.

Second Opinion for a Bulbous Tip? (photo)

I have gone to a consultation for rhinoplasty on my nose.. My main problems are that I have a large tip and flared nostrils.. My side profile is straight so that doesnt concern me However the surgeon suggested that he will just reduce the tip and not worry about the nostrils as it will create a "pinched" look.. But I think I might need the nostril base narrows as my narrows are quite big Do you have any suggestions?

A: Tip rhinoplasty surgery

From the picture, there seems to be some bulbosity which needs to be addressed. I think a conservative refinement would yield the best result. I would not overdo it. Because we can see your face only partially on this photo it is difficult to assess your nose in the context of your entire face. Therefore, I would tend to approach the nostrils in a conservative way. I would leave them for now and reassess after a few months following tip refinement. Good Luck.

Can I Have A Minor Nose Job To Fix a Bump?

So I love the appearance of my nose from the front and I don't have a "big" nose but I do have a bump to it from the side. I want to have the least bit of work done to the point where I still look like I am related to my family. I would be fine with just a less noticeable bump (as in not completely straight) so I was wondering, is it possible to get a surgery that Will simply make the bump smaller? And if so, will it still cost as much in general as it does a full out nose change? Thank You.

A: Rhinoplasty to reduce a hump.

Hello Trisha,

Rhinoplasty can certainly be limited to addressing the areas that are of concern to you, in this case a hump. Hump removal can be certainly be performed alone. A trained Facial Plastic Surgeon experienced in rhinoplasty will be able to thoroughly examine your nose and the rest of your facial features and recommend to you what best suits your nose and face. Whatever is done, the key word is "subtle" to remain natural and retain your own characteristic features.

In terms of price, some surgeons will charge less if a rhinoplasty is limited to a hump with no tip work whereas others will charge a flat fee regardless of what for is done. Geographic location also determines what the local "market" price is for surgery.

Best of luck.
