Will Some Acne Treatments (Laser, Chemical Peel) Have Any Effect on Restylane Injections?

I'm getting restylane injections soon and wondering if I need to hold off and take care of my acne first. Are most chemical peels and laser treatments safe to use if I have restylane filler in the tear trough area? Or produce any weird or unsightly side effects like discoloration? Not certain which acne treatment the Dermatologist will recommend since I still have some active acne + various types of scarring after using Accutane.

A: Restylane injections in tear trough area generally not affected by laser treatments and superficial peels

Not to worry, most acne treatments are superficial and cannot effect the dermal filler. Most lasers and peels will not even come in contact with the tear trough area. But be weary that you cannot have any acne or laser treatments done until 1 year after finishing your Accutane medication.

Restylane For Under Eye Hollows After Weight Loss

Since I was a kid I had these hollows under my eyes, but after taking acutane and losing some weight they worsen a lot. Should I consider restylane to lift the under eye area up or in my situation it is not going to help? The right eye looks for some reason worse and more sunk than the left one. When I look up front in the mirror I see these harsh lines coming from my undereye because a lot of fat is lost in this area and they look very dark like the skin is very thin there and no fat beneath

A: Consultation Required

I have often used dermal fillers like Restylane with an excellent result for adding volume for under eye hollows.  Based on the description of your situation, I believe a dermal filler could bring about a positive result, however, any definite prescription would require a consultation in person with a physician.

Thank you for your inquiry.
