Why Didn't my Doctor Give Me Enough Botox?

First time I had treatment, he gave me fillers and botox, and I was very, very impressed with the results. Then I came back for more botox, as I thought I needed a touch-up after 3 months. However, he didn't seem to give me much of it, saying I still had enough in some areas. I was not very impressed with the results at all, as I did not want my botox to run out completely. He did not charge me for it, but why is he doing that? I'm 51, well preserved.

A: BOTOX® Cosmetic should be repeated before effect wears off.

You are right to go back for a treatment before your Botox has completely worn off. It is important to understand that many doctors treat their patients differently and some may be more conservative with their Botox dosage to ensure a natural looking treatment. Over doing it can lead to the Botox moving into another area where we do not want to restrict movement. Don't be shy to speak to your doctor about your issues, good communication will help you to achieve your goals

What Are the Individual Variables That Can Determine How Long Botox and Other Fillers Last?

Though companies give guidelines as to the longevity of Botox and other fillers, there seems to be some variables that determine how long it actually lasts for each person. What are the factors that determine how long Botox lasts? How long Resty or Juve lasts? Even Radiesse? And, if it's the skill of the injector that impacts this - what is the skill? Is it knowing what layer to inject?

A: Quantity, dosage and placement have an effect on longevity of of injectables.

There are many factors contributing to the longevity of each injectable such as the quantity used and placement. For Botox, dosage is key to the length of time your treatment will last. Fillers have many more contributing factors due to the wide variety of choices. Placement, consistency of the product and volume will play a large factor as to how long they will last. There are also external factors that may reduce the longevity of your filler including illness, sun exposure and smoking. To optimize your treatments, do not wait for the effects to completely wear off before coming back for your next treatment.

Does Botox Help with the Under Eye Lines?

I have botox for my forehead, loving it. What kind of product(s) can reduce the under eye lines? Does Botox help?

A: There are options for you to significantly improve fine lines beneath the eye.

Botox is often used to reduce "crow's feet" to the side of the eyes however, it can be used in very small quantities to reduce fine lines under the eyes as well. Other options may include dermal fillers (Restylane), laser resurfacing or surgery to remove excess skin.
