Paid £695 for Zoom Treatment result is two shades lighter only. I am having crown done and am worried about the matching shade will be poor after I use tray treatment given with zoom procedure?
In my experience the best results are achieved with ZOOM when the in-office treatment is followed by at least 3 tray applications at home. This seems to brighten the teeth further and make the result more long-lasting. This is the good news. The other thing to consider is that tooth whitening is less predictable in terms of the final shade that will result. One person can end up with a dazzling white smile and another person will only get slightly lighter. This is dependent on the shade range that you start with (yellow teeth seem to whiten better than greyer teeth) and in some cases the structure of an individual's teeth.
Speak to your dentist and let him know that you are not as satisfied as you had hoped for and see if they can shed some light on your situation and help you understand what is happening in your mouth.
Everything I have read says to get Zoom done before my permanent restoration. However, If I do that doesn't that mean I am signing up to do Zoom (or some other strong whitening) for life? Otherwise wouldn't I eventually end up with the super white crown but the rest of my teeth not matching due to naturally occurring stains?
Any whitening procedure will reverse if it is not maintained. One of the great things about the maintenance is that it is quite inexpensive and easy to do. As long as you maintain the shade, you will not have to have the ZOOM process repeated.
If you have any thoughts of having whiter teeth, now is the time to do it, before you have your crown made. Yes, you will have to maintain the whiter shade or your crown will eventually look too white, but the only other way to have whiter teeth, (which is another option) is to have porcelain veneers fabricated. In order to lighten your teeth with veneers you have to place at least 8 to 10 veneers, but no maintenance needed on those. Any less than 8 to 10 when you are creating a whiter shade will look un-natural and odd.
