I am a 50yr old female considering a Tummy Tuck after 2 c-sections in my 20's my skin below my belly button is sagging. I am in fairly good health,(not on current meds except vitamins) In order not to be in debt at my age, I am considering doing my surgery at a post gradudate cosmetic surgery fellowship pgrm in NYC because it's affordable. However,I am not really sure if this is the route to go. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you
Thank you for the question.
In NYC there are a few affordable programs for cosmetic surgery performed by Board Certified Plastic Surgeons, I believe New York Eye and Ear Infirmary has that program. Worth looking into.
Best of Luck!
I'm 45 years old, recently lost 82 pounds in past 10 months with the vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I am currently @ 200 pounds, and I'm 5"8.5. My goal weight is 180....I exercise 4x a week and watch my diet carefully. Would I get. Good result now? Does it look like my fat on belly is more external or internal? Thank you!
Dear WorkingHard,
Congratulations on your weight loss!
It is difficult to give you specific information without seeing photos of your tummy. If you have excess skin you are more likely to benefit from an extended tummy tuck and liposuction for better contouring of the tummy and the waist. However I would recommend reaching your desired weight first so you can have an optimal result.
Best of luck!
How do I know if I need a tummy tuck or if my issue will resolve itself after i reach my weight goal? I am 47 and had 2 c sections in my 20's. I need to lose about 30 pounds. I am very active and I excerise with running, weight training and yoga. Will my activity level fix my tummy issue?
Dear Jackie,
It appears from your photos that you have excess skin in your lower abdomen. After you reach your goal weight you may find that you have looser skin, and is very likely that you will benefit from a tummy tuck to get rid of the excess skin and tighten your abdominal muscles to give you a flatter stomach. This may be combined with liposuction to contour your waist.
Best of luck with your weight loss!
