After a report by the FDA in 2004, Thermage published a Technical note to protect dental work with cotton rolls. Is it still recommended to protect dental work? If so, what happens if I don't?
Thank you for your question!
Protecting the dental work is easy to do- you can place dental pleggets over the teeth for the time period that the area is being treated.
The new Thernage CPT is a fantastic new upgrade to decrease the discomfort of the treatment and improve the results of skin tightening!

Has anyone had Thermage targeted to the neck and/or jowls? If so, how were the results?
Dear Mary Ellen
Thermage is an excellent device for treatment of brow, eyelid, face and neck skin. It works by heating the deep layer if the skin with sound waves. Other areas where it works well is on the abdomen, buttocks and thighs to help tighten and tone the skin in these areas.
It is usually done with some oral sedation and can take 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the number of areas treated.
For the face , Botox is essential to achieve optimal skin tightening- particularly for the neck skin.
There is no downtime and maximal results are seen between 2 and 6 months and can last 2 to 3 years. For even more exceptional results in the face- it is nice to combine the use of some injectable fillers to restore facial volume.

Will Thermage fix my under eye sagging skin, or will a lower Blepharoplasty work better?
Dear SR, the device or procedure you choose really depends on what your goals are. Thermage will give some improvement to the lower eyelids- improved texture and tone of the skin, moderate to very good improvement of the upper eyelids and will help elevate the eyebrows if enough pulses are used in the areas.
Eyelid surgery will improve all of the elements- skin, fat bulging, muscle tone and eyelid position- a more complete rejuvenation. Surgery has more downtime but the results will last 5 to 7 years or more.
