Can I Go to Work After Sculptra Injections?

If I make an appointment in the morning, can I take ice paks and come into my office after the injections? I'm not worried about anyone seeing me, I'm just concerned that I may need to take the day off for pain or healing. Thank you

A: Sculptra can fit into your workday.

You can certainly go to work immediately after Sculptra injections.

Sculptra is reconstituted using Lidocaine (an anesthetic) and thus after a few needle passes, it becomes quite numb and comfortable.  If you're at all concerned about the discomfort, let your doctor know and they can provide a number of pain reducing options - i.e. topical anesthetics, nerve blocks, etc.

As a simple solution, apply ice to the areas where you'd like the Sculptra placed - 10 minutes prior to your injections.  This has the double effect of making the area slightly numb, and also reducing your post-injection swelling.

Once you've been injected, you'll want to put some ice over the area of injection as some people (depending on your skin tone and thickness) are predisposed to getting some minor bruising.  The bruising can be reduced by applying ice on and off for the first 24hrs post injection.  Any bruising that presents after that time period can usually be masked with a light layer of makeup.  Bruising is not a rule though, so if it doesn't happen to you, all the better.

Sculptra Injections for Undereye Hollows

Hi, My Dr Recomended I Get Sculptra Injectable Filler for Undereye Hollows? Plz Advice

A: NO Sculptra under the eyes!!

I would absolutely NOT inject Sculptra under the eyes.  It is not indicated and could lead to very unpredictable results including a lumpy look under the eyes.  There are, however,  other great products for under the eyes such as Restylane Fine LInes or Sephyl.

Sculptra in my Hands

Hi, I am considering in having Sculptra in my hands, due to my veins showing, I have very thin skin, and in the summer its worse. I am very concern about this because I am only 29 year old. Should I wait a little longer? Any advise?

A: Which Fillers are Best for Plumping up Hands.

A number of injectable fillers have been used in the hands with a variety of outcomes and, occasionally, complications.  Sculptra is an excellent product for promoting collagen formation in the face. I use it routinely for improving facial volume and have done so, with excellent results, for over 4 years in my Toronto Clinic. In the thin skin of the hands, collagen formation can occasionally result in the appearance or feel of bumps. For this reason, I much prefer Radiesse for rejuvenation of the hands.  I have not seen complications with this and the results last for about a year, assuming that the appropriate volume is injected.  I hope that this information is helpful for you and other readers.
