Is There Any Way to Prevent Post Glycolic Peel Breakouts?

I did my first glycolic peel a week ago and broke out from it. Pimples are still here after a week. I did a 2nd one tonight and feel the pimples coming to the surface. I know this is part of the purging process, but is there anything I can do to lessen the effects? I treated the areas that are about to break out with zeno. I realize it's risky with compromised skin, but I'm desperate. I used a 20% soln for 90 secs. Is it safe to dilute it and leave it on overnight? (using peel for cystic acne)

A: Use Tretinoin Cream to Improve Outcomes with Glycolic Acid Peels

I always have patients begin topical tretinoin cream (Retin-A, etc.) at least 2-4 weeks prior to beginning Glycolic Acid Peels.  This prepares the skin for an acid environment and helps to improve exfoliation of the outer layers of skin.  The only proviso is that I ask patients not to use this for a night or two just prior to the peel, since this can increase peeling or burning of the skin after the peel. Use of concurrent tretinoin cream with Glycolic Acid peels definitely decreases the likelihood of post-peel breakouts.

Glycolic Peel for Stretch Marks?

Can multiple sessions of Glycolic Peels effectively reduce the visibility of stretch marks?

A: Glycolic peels for stretch marks

I agree that glycolic peels early in the formation of stretch marks (when reddish-purple) may be of modest benefit, but so would topical tretinoin / vitamin A acid which would be much less costly.

Sauna After Glycolic Acid Peel?

I get 30% GA Peel weekly and was wondering, how long should I stay away from sauna after the peel? I practice yoga in a heated 110 degree room for an hour and half, and I started noticing brown spots on my face since I started the peel. I wear sunscreen diligently, and was wondering, is the heated room for yoga causing hyperpigmentation after peel? Is there a peel you recommend that I don't have to get so often like this one? Thank you!

A: Sauna after chemical peel

I'd wait 3 days to have a sauna after a chemical peel, and make sure to be very diligent with SPF 60 sunscreen for the week after a peel. The brown hyperpigmentation is most likely from the sun, not the sauna. You may also want to consider 50% peels every 2 weeks instead of 30% every week as far as results and cost.
