Can Artefill be used for temples? Is this product risky for this area? I have no fat left in my temples. I also have Fibromyalgia and Psoriasis.
Wasting of the temples is a common phenomenon and seen in the aging process. Fillers can significantly improve temple atrophy. The commonest filler that I use in this area is perlane or restylane which lasts up to a year. Artefill is a permanent injectable product composed of microsphere plastic particles and collagen. It has been used for over a decade for facial soft tissue augmentation. It has risks of lumps or granulomas which are reported in the medical literature. In my opinion it is relatively safe for use in the temple as long as deep injections are carried out . I dont know of any contraindication with its use in patients with psoriasis or fibromyalgia.
Can ArteFill be used by people with Fibromyalgia and Psoriasis?
Using Artefill or any other filler or Botox should pose little to more likely no risk to someone with fibromyalgia and psoriasis.
If a person has Juvederm in their NL folds and wants to supplement with ArteFill also, can the two be injected within a couple of months apart? I have received 1 injection of Juvederm in my NL folds and in two months would like to go back and get an injection of ArteFill in the same area. My Doc said this is OK. Would like to here other comments on this.
Artefill is a long term filler that can be added on top of or below another filler such as Juvederm. The only issue is that unlike Juvederm, if you're unhappy with it, there is no antidote such as hyaluronidase which is great at dissolving hyaluronic acid fillers such as juvederm & restylane. Thus, if for whatever reason you were unhappy with the artesense (e.g. too much injected, or a nodule developed), you'd have a problem lasting you a few years.
