I have had so many surgeries in the past in the abdomen area and it seems that a lot of fat tissue is building more on my pubic mound, it's bad enough that I can't wear clothes I like never mind a bathing suit. I know that I need a tummy tuck but I really can't afford a whole lot. Also wondering if a doctor takes a down payment and then make monthly payments for the remainder. thank you. Lisa
There are many ways of fixing the pubic mound bulge.
The simplest way of fixing the pubic mound bulge.is liposuction alone. This works if you have good skin tone with no hanging or looseness of the pubic mound area.
The next option is liposuction of the pubis combined with a pubic lift. This is necessary if your skin tone is a bit loose. The operation combines liposuction with a skin excision through a small horizontal incision placed below the bikini line. This incision is similar to a c section scar.
The most common way of fixing a pubic bulge however is to combine this correction with a tummy tuck. Through the usual abdominoplasty incision, the abdomen and pubic mound are corrected at the same time making both look smoother, tighter and flatter.
You should discuss your needs, goals and desires with your plastic surgeon but pubic mound correction can definitely be performed in most cases.
Good luck Lisa!
@ 2wks removed drain tube(1 tube was placed on the side). There are swelling above incision line on both side. PS swears there are some fluid. Each f/u (3times)PS stuck a needle to drain fluid but nothing came out on either side. Last f/u (4wks p/o) PS tried again and nothing. PS tells me the fluid sometime can be like sponge? I don't quite understand. Will my body absorb on it's own? Just swelling? Permanent? I will call PS to have btr understanding. Meantime, I would like some advices. TY
At only two weeks post op the most likely cause of fullness in the area you describe after tummy tuck is fluid. The other potential cause is fat. Fluid can be pooled in the space between the muscle layer and the skin and fat layer, or it can also be present within the tissues. I think this is what your surgeon refers to as a sponge effect. Swelling is simply that: fluid distributed within the tissues. It may take several months for swelling to completely resolve, so you and your surgeon need to be patient.
I am having difficulty in making a choice between 2 surgeons. Both are ABPS certified as well as other credentials. Both were able to provide me with answers regarding abdominoplsty, both were able to answer all my questions. The difficulty comes from reviews ive read about them, the hospitals the procedures will take place. How much does years in practice/experience determine the choice? I saw photos on both of their websites, pictures in the office of one etc..etc.
I do think that experience is important and this is likely reflected by how long the surgeon has been in practice. The hospital site can be important as well and you may be able to find that information on the web. But also important is the experience of others. Your surgeons may be able to put you in touch with one or two of their patients who are willing to talk to you.
