I want the best results for underneath my deep set eyes, as I know this is a delicate area and the feedback keeps saying to find a doctor with experience. What questions do I ask when I'm interviewing doctors?
The tear trough and under eye area is a place that responds well to fillers. Placing fillers in the tear trough and cheek area can greatly improve the appearance of the face. Making it look younger and more rested.
One caveat is that this can be a challenging area. It is helpful to find an injector who specializes in the under eye area. I think it is particularly helpful to see before and after images of other patients with similar issues under the eyes.
Good luck in your search for information.
Does anyone know in Holland an highly Experienced Physician with Restylane who can treat dark eye circles under the eye? Thank you.
Dear Linda99999 in Belgium:
Thank you for your question. Treating dark circles under the eyes is often frustrating. If the darkness is caused by or made worse by shadowing, and you have a depression in the skin under the eye, a filler may help. It won't however, erase dark circles.
Dark circles under the eyes caused by pigmentation, usually brown, will not be affected, and dark circles caused by blood vessels underneath the skin (usually purple) may be made worse. Since Restylane, Juvederm and other Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers are clear, the purple from the blood vessels can transluminate through it and cause the skin to appear purple.
If you have bags, blepharoplasty may be a better option. The best way to get advice in this area is to see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area who is experienced with surgical and non-surgical treatments. Be prepared though, with all the advancements made in cosmetic plastic surgery procedures, sometimes makeup is still the best treatment.
Have sand and in the morning dried mucous?
HA fillers like Restylane and Juvederm can be used around the eyes. The area is more difficult to treat than the more traditional areas like nasolabial folds, because it is less forgiving if the filler is not precisely placed. Treatment around the eyes is not for everyone. The best results require good patient selection, meticulous attention to detail, and experience helps tremendously.
Normally there is very little discomfort after these injections. Bruising is more likely in the area, so a little soreness is expected. Swelling is normally, but should peak in about 24 hours and gradually resolve over a few days. The sensation of sand in the eyes is not common, and suggests there is more to the story. It may be from swelling but other causes should be ruled out. I may mean excessive dryness or possibly even a corneal abrasion is present.
