Does face lift threading produce the same results as a traditional face lift?
The “Threadlift” facelift and brow lift seemed to have wonderful potential, and there was a great deal of interest in these procedures when they first were introduced. Unfortunately, after a short period of time, serious limitations of this procedure became apparent. The recovery time was, in fact, more involved and prolonged than first thought. The results turned out not to be lasting, and a number of troublesome complications associated with the threads themselves arose. Because of these issues, the Threadlift procedure is not widely used.
While there have been many attempts over the years to try different techniques, such as the Threadlift, many surgeons have either gone back to or continue to be confident in the traditional SMAS facelift. I believe the traditional SMAS facelift remains the most predictable technique with the most natural-looking and effective results.
I am researching various methods of a facelift (jowls, neck and marionette areas). A friend had an endo brow & mid-face lift with sciton erbium laser and her jowls and neck ended up lifting too. She Looks wonderful at 71. Interested in learning about a minimally invasive facelift if possible.
Certainly a midface lift and brow lift can be done endoscopically with consistently excellent results. However, I do not believe that an endoscopic approach addresses loose jowls, loose neck skin or prominent neck muscle bands very effectively. I believe that some type of open approach, often with very limited incisions, is usually required to redrape any excess skin and to tighten the subcutaneous muscle and soft tissue effectively.
I also use Sciton’s Laser – the BBL SkinTyte treatment - which can achieve great improvement in jowls and neck skin tightening with multiple treatments (usually 3-5 depending on the individual). This is a great option to surgery but will not yield as significant results – but that’s not always necessary depending on your goals.
Does it make a difference at which age you get a facelift in terms of how long it will last?
The easy and consistent answer is that you will always look better after your procedure. In other words, while you will continue to age, this will not take place at the usual accelerated rate because your surgery turned back the clock a bit, so that you will always look better than if you had not done the surgery at all.
The advantages of having this surgery performed at a younger age are: you heal much more naturally and more quickly; there is much less risk to the surgical procedure and any associated anesthesia. There will be a more natural appearing improvement to your facial contours that is less noticeable to friends and family. Perhaps the most important reason to consider doing this type of surgery sooner rather than later is that you will have a longer time to enjoy the results.
