Fraxel Dual: Will It Help for Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation? (photo)

I have had these post acne red spots on my face for years now and was wondering if Fraxel Dual would be of any help. I tried the V-Beam once and didn't notice any improvement.

A: Cynosure V-Star for Red Scars

Hi Elbert.  The V-Star and V-Beam would both be superior for treating red scars like this than the Fraxel.  It may take more than one treatment (and maybe a different practitioner) but these lasers are designed to treat vascular (red) lesions and the Fraxel is not.  Good luck.

Fillers Before Fraxel?

I'm having a small depressed scar in my cheek filled with Radiesse next week (it's an "untethered" scar), but I'm also thinking of getting a couple of Fraxel restore treatments done in a couple of months. Will the Fraxel cause a problem with the filler? Should I try another shorter-term filler first?

A: Should I do fillers before Fraxel?

Hi Philly.  While it's not likely that your Fraxel treatment will penetrate to the same depth as the injections, we recommend doing the lasers first and fillers second.  This will help avoid any uncertainty.

Does Fraxel Treatment Get Rid of Craters? Please help!!! Thank you!
A: Fraxel and "crater" scars

The answer is that it depends. It depends on how deep and angular the scars are, it depends on which Fraxel technology is used, it depends on how aggressive the treatments are and it depends on how many treatments are performed.

Fraxel lasers certainly have the ability to help with crater type acne scars, but not necessarily to the point where the scars would be completely gone. We suggest you consider all of the below before making a decision on your scar treatments.

Go to several consultations with different specialties (derm, plastic) to see what your options are. Likely the answers will be different but at least you will have better information.

Be wary of any practitioner that tells you he/she has the "best" solution, because likely there are several good options.
