Should I Go for Smart Lipo or Traditional Liposuction?

I am 32 years old and my weight is 132lb. I am exercising regularly and trying to watch what I eat. With all that however, I can not get rid of my belly. Until I was 23 years old, I was fat and lost 50 lbs, but no matter what I did, I could not get rid of my belly. Thus, I decided to go for Lipo. I am not sure which one I should go with. Should it be Smart Lipo or a regular one? Thanks a lot.

A: Choose the surgeon for liposuction, not the equipment

Hi Mariniya

The skill and training of the surgeon is far more important than the equipment or technique used for the procedure. An experienced, well-trained surgeon can inform you of the anticipated changes with liposuction or whether liposuction should be performed at all. In many cases, the preferred treatment in the abdominal area is a tummy tuck. To obtain this information I would recommend a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Good luck in New York.

Lollipop Lift or Benelli Lift in Addition to Breast Implants?

I want to know if I could be a candidate for a Benelli Lift. I want a Breast Augmentation because I breastfed my baby and I lost a cup of my volume.

I visited 2 surgeons in my country and they told me that I will need a lift only on my right breast. They told me about a Lollipop Breast Lift, but I read here that some people can have a Benelli lift. I want to know if I really need a Lollipop Lift or a Benelli + Breast implant. Will it work? Thanks in advance for your answers.

A: Lollipop vs Benelli lift for breast asymmetry

Hi Jadore645

Without the benefit of a clinical examination and measurements it is not possible to give an exact answer to your question. It is probable that either procedure can be performed but the changes or improvement may not be the same. In general, breast lifts that have more scarring also provide more lift. Depending on how much lift you require or how much residual ptosis you will accept will determine which procedure is preferred and selected.

Although I know this is not a great answer to your question, I hope it is of some value to you and provides some help as you make your decision. Best wishes and good luck to you.

Are Blood Clots and Seroma Common Liposuction Complications?

How common are blood clots and seroma after liposuction? How often do I need to move and get up and walk after my surgery to prevent blood clots? I don't want to move too much but at the same time don't want to stay planted in bed.

A: Complications of liposuction

Hi Keely

Although seromas are reportedly a common complication after liposuction, this is a rare and benign finding in my personal practice. I suspect the incidence of seroma is technique driven. On the other hand, blood clots, i.e. deep venous thrombosis is a very uncommon complication but the seriousness is such that it should never be ignored. Your surgeon will take special precautions during surgery to reduce this risk of this dreaded complication and post-operatively your contribution will be to get out of bed and begin ambulation as soon as possible.

Good luck and best wishes to you in Las Vegas.
