Tear Build Up 1 Month After Bletharplasty- Blocked Tear Duct?

I had upper and lower bletharplasty done approx 4 weeks ago. Right after procedure I noticed that tears were accumulation in the corner of my right eye. Is this a sign of blocked tear duct?

A: Tearing after eyelid surgery

Eyelid surgery does not affect the tear drainage system. Some patients can have increased tear production due to dry eyes. I recommend using artificial tears 3 to 4 times per day and consult with an oculoplastic surgeon if your problem does not improve with time. Hope this helps.

When Can You Wear Contacts After Having Inner Corner Eye Surgery (Epicanthoplasty)?

My friend recently had double eyelid surgery, but they operated on the inner corners of her eyes as well. She was wondering when she could begin wearing contacts. Is it possible to put them in after about 5 weeks? Please do not respond with "it depends on your doctor". Thank you!

A: use of contacts after eyelid surgery

I tell most of my patients to wait at least 2  weeks after any eyelid surgery before starting to use contact lenses. Hope this helps.

Upcoming Eyelid Retraction Surgery and Tooth Infection?

I have an eyelid surgery in 12 days (levator recession with possible spacer). Recently I also got an infected molar tooth. I have been on antibiotics and pain has subsided. Its still sensitive but not painful. Now, rescheduling surgery is close to impossible due to work. So not sure what to do. Have root canal real quick before surgery. Or go through surgery and then after. Not sure what to do. But concerned even if infection is not active to do surgery. Thoughts?

A: Dear Arlington

If you are having eyelid retraction surgery because you are in pain and have poor closure of the eyelids, you must weigh the pros and cons of surgery.   If this is elective and can wait, I would concentrate on getting into the best heath you can before any procedure.
