I am 5’ 3” and weigh 103 pounds. Six weeks ago I had a mini-tummy tuck and hernia repair in hopes of removing the excess skin I had from two pregnancies. My plastic surgeon and one other recommended that I get a full tummy tuck to correct the amount of extra skin I had above my belly button, but for personal reasons, I chose to do a mini instead. Although my stomach is very flat and looks much better than it did prior to the mini, I have a small amount of skin that is starting to cover my belly button. The skin covers approximately half my belly button, extends about ¾ of an inch when I pull it away from my stomach and measures approximately 2 inches wide.
What options do I have to remove some of the skin so that I have a normal looking belly button? Could an umbilicoplasty work?
The gold standard for surgical repair is an abdominoplasty. Lesser treatments will only provide less than satisfactory results.
I had a Mini-Tummy Tuck with Liposuction on the abdomen area slighty over a year ago. I am physically active and work out almost every day of the week. Right above my incicision, I have a small pouch or skin that is hanging.
Is this normal? Is this my final result? I was not able to go back to see my doctor as he retired, so I am not sure if I needed him to do anything else, or in time it will go down.
One year after surgery, residual skin and fat above the incision is less likely to be related to postoperative swelling. It may be due to weight fluctuations or skin stretching as a result of leftover stretch marks. I would visit a plastic surgeon and request a small procedure to remove the tissue. This is done as an outpatient procedure.
I had a Mini tummy tuck 7 months ago. My belly button, which wasn't moved, is keeping me tethered over and my muscle, tightened at the bottom, feels like it's ripping midline. It feels like too much skin was removed or not undermined. It pulls and blanches when I stand straight, but looks funny while sitting, and my muscle wall bulges and hurts. My surgeon won't acknowledge a problem. I have already gone the CTt/MRI/Ultrasound tests--no problems. Can the skin be relayed and the fascia loosened? How?
Plastic surgeons are able to decrease tension in a particular tissue plane or anatomic region, including the belly button, through subcutaneous dissection techniques that release tethering points. I would revise your tummy tuck procedure to balance the tension zones on your abdominoplasty. This may require complete revision of your tummy tuck.
