Will Fraxel Damage my Skin Years After the Procedure?

CHIN AND MOUTH WRINKLES I'm scheduled for Fraxel Restore to treat chin and mouth wrinkles, but after some review I need to think again. I noticed that some people have skin problems after years of the date of the procedure. My questions is: Can Fraxel damage my skin in years after?

A: Fraxel Laser Will Not Damage Your Skin Years Later

A properly performed Fraxel laser procedure will not cause skin damage years later. I have personally performed Fraxel laser resurfacing over 2000 times since 2004 and there has never been a patient with skin damage that appeared years later. Results from Fraxel laser skin treatment are visible a few months after the last procedure. Skin problems that you see years following a Fraxel laser procedure are new skin problems that are unrelated to the Fraxel laser procedure itself.

I recommend that you see an experienced Fraxel laser physician in your area.  Such a physician should leave you feeling confident that he or she will give you an effective, beneficial, and safe treatment.

Good luck Anjelica, and be well.

Will Fraxel Repair Tighten Mid-cheek Creping?

I have the beginning of drooping jowls, but the part that bothers me most is the creping on my cheeks. I do not want to go through Fraxel Repair unless it will tighten the creping. Also I have very soft skin and wonder if this would lead to faster return of wrinkles after procedure?

A: Fraxel Repair Will Tighten Mid-cheek Creping

Fraxel Repair will improve the creping in your cheeks. It does this through two mechanisms. First, because it is an ablative laser, the Fraxel Repair actually tightens the skin of the cheeks. Second, as part of the healing process after Fraxel Repair laser treatment, new collagen is formed in the skin. These two mechanisms of action work together to reduce the creping in your cheeks.

In my own personal experience with many Fraxel Repair patients, the cheeks respond very well to this laser. You should be able to easily see very good improvement in your cheek creping after Fraxel Repair laser treatment.

Take care and be well.

Does Fraxel Laser Treatment Tighten Skin?

That is really what I was looking for when I started the Restore treatments. The only thing I found short of surgery that would help with lax skin was Thermage and even the doctor that had Thermage didn't seem very impressed with it, so I chose Fraxel Restore.

A: Fraxel Repair Treatment Will Tighten Skin

Fraxel Repair laser treatment reduces wrinkles, improves brown patches and brown spots, and is a very effective skin tightener. The Fraxel Repair is able to tighten the skin because it is an ablative laser, meaning that it actually removes a portion of the skin in the treated areas.

Fraxel Restore is a non-ablative laser. It may tighten the skin a little in some patients but it is difficult to predict in advance which patients will obtain this tightening. Fraxel Restore is definitely far less effective as a skin tightener than the Fraxel Repair. I believe that the Fraxel Repair laser and other similar ablative lasers are our most effective non-surgical skin tighteners.
