Is Getting Fat Injection to Breasts Safe?

I'm 5' 6.5" and 178lbs. I'm 24 years old and considering getting fat injection to my breasts. I currently a cup B; however, I want it to be make my breasts fuller or bigger as cup C. I prefer this method to the implant because it's more natural. I wonder if there will be any risks or side effect. Am I a good candidate for this procedure? What is the method of getting fat out of my body? Is this procedure widely used? Thank you!!

A: Fat Injections to The Breast

The quick answer is that no one knows for sure.  Some studies have shown that it does not interfere with routine standard mammograms to detect breast cancer but some studies have not.  It is too soon for a definitive conclusion. Hopefully over the next few years, with further studies and research, the answer will become clearer.

Fat Injection in Lip Caused Large Hard Lump

One year ago I had fat transfer to my face and my lips. On the lower lip there was always a small bulge just below the lip line, but it wasn't noticeable. About 2 months ago I developed a large hard lump in my lower lip. There are a couple of very small hard places in my upper lip, however they do not show. THe one on my lower lip is very noticeable and looks like a bee sting or like I have been hit. What is the best resolution for this problem

A: Lump after Fat Transfer

This lump could be caused from either infection, scar tissue or the injected fat itself.  If you are experiencing pain or tenderness in this area you should see your injecting surgeon immediately.  If you do not have pain and/or tenderness, I would still recommend seeing your injecting surgeon for possible steroid injections to the lump.

Fat Transfer for Under Eye Hollows

I've heard about a procedure where my body fat can be transferred or injected on my under eye area for dark circles and hollowness. Is this safe, and will results be permanent?

A: FAt Injection to lower eyelid must be performed delicately

Fat grafting is great tool to improve lower eyelid condition. Micro grafts of patients' own fat can be safely placed in the hollowed area below the eye and nearby structures. This injection will fill the hollowed areas and improves the skin condition. There is early evidence that mesenchymal stem cells naturally contained in the fat grafts stimulates regenerative properties of the skin. Caution must be used to place only small amounts of fat. Over-injection and misplaced fat will be hard to correct. Best wishes, Reza Nabavian M.D. Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery Keck-USC School of Medicine
