I have a 5 month old son who is breast fed... I had botox for the 1st time yesterday. The nurse who gave me the injection was aware I had a baby but she did not ask if I was breast feeding and until last night i was unaware of the risks associated with b/feeding and botox. I feel quite stupid now.....I would Not have even considered it if i'd known it wasn't advised. I know I should have researched it more. Now I really need some advice....please.....should I stop breastfeeding?
First, the person who injected you should have inquired if you were breast feeding or not. This is a good reason that one should go to a person who is well experienced in this, and preferably a physician and not an ancillary person in an office or medi spa.
I would pump and dump until you decide on what to do as to not loose your milk supply. There is no data looking at the passage of botox into breast milk. However, botox should be bound within 4-6 hours after injections. Some practices recommend doing a "pump and dump" for 24 hrs after botox injections during breast feeding. While there is no data to support this, it is not an uncommon practice in my geographic area. However, you should speak with your pediatrician for his/her advice.
I had Dysport injection on April 28, and noticed that my right eyelid started to droop day 4. I had this done a few times over 2 years but didn't have this effect. I have my engagement shoot this week and my wedding is the end of May. How long will this last?
Eyelid droops generally last for 1-2 months post injection. Iopodine will help the eyelid to lift and should be used every morning. I recommend seeing the doctor who did your Dysport injection to get a prescription for the medication.
It has been one month since my dysport injection to the forehead (60 units) and the dark puffy bags under my eyes remain. The bags showed up 24 hours after the injection and look better or worse day to day, but are consistently there. My eyes still have a wideset appearance and I do not look like former self. Will my previous appearance gradually reappear and what about these bags?! Thanks!
Dysport is a neurotoxin used in the treatment of lines on the forehead. When I do Mohs surgery on the forehead for skin cancer removal,I always warn patients that some of the blood may migrate down and typically settle in the lower eyelid area. Although unlikely, I can see the same thing happening with Botox or Dysport injections in the forehead. If this is the case, it should go away with time. Please go back and have your physician evaluate you. Dr. Behnam, Santa Monica
