Do I Need Revision Otoplasty or Is It Not Worth It? (photo)

I did otoplasty 1.5yrs ago.My doctor did what I asked him to: pinned the ears back but I wanted them to show a little bit,I didn't want people to notice the otoplasty. Strangely,I look in some mirrors and I like how my ears look and in others I don't like them.I don't know why I still have this issue with my ears. Is it worth it to do a revision otoplasty? Will this 'weaken' my ears long term?I do Jujitsu and don't want this to be comprmise training. I attach photos. Please give me your opinion

A: Revision Otoplasty?

I agree with the other posts.  Your ears look good.  Much improved from the pre-op photo.  No need for the expense, risk, and recovery of another procedure.

How Noticeable Are the Scars After an Otoplasty?

I want a permanent fix for my "dumbo ears" (big and sticking out) because I'm sick of wearing hats to cover them up and it seems like otoplasty is my only option...but I am afraid I'll end up more self-conscious about my ears if there are scars there plus everyone will know I had ear surgery.
What I want to know is - Where do they cut into you during ear surgery and are the scars really noticeable?

A: Otoplasty scars are almost invisible

Otoplasty scars are typically placed behind the ear, and when the procedure is completed and the ear is set closer to the head, the scar is as discreet as any scar can possibly be. Only someone pulling your ear forward and peering closely behind your ear would possibly notice it, like maybe when you get your haircut. Even then, it would likely go unnoticed. Otoplasty (ear pinning) is such a safe and reliable operation, typically done under straight local anesthesia in the office, that I always wish when I see someone with prominent ears that the public knew more about this procedure. So thanks for asking that question!

Will I Be Awake During Ear Surgery?

What kind of anesthesia is used for an otoplasty (ear surgery)? Will I be awake and aware of what's going on?

A: Otoplasty anesthesia

Otoplasty is easily done under straight local anesthesia. Most of my patients don't even need to take a valium or pain pill.

Certainly you could do it under IV sedation or general anesthesia but it's absolutely unnecessary. The exception is children - I will typically do this under local anesthesia for anyone 12 or older. For the younger children, general anesthesia is necessary.
