Procedures to Tighten Loose Skin from Massive Weight Loss?

I'm a male 23 years old. I was 300 lbs. and now I'm 185 lbs. The problem is I have excess skin just above the penis area and around my stomach. Is there any exercise I can do to get rid of it? I work out a lot. What procedures are available to get rid of this? It’s really upsetting me. Please can you help and tell me how I can tighten this area? Thank you!

A: Unfortunately, there are no exercises to fix loose skin

Congratulations on your weight loss, and kudos for working out a lot and staying in good shape. Unfortunately, you have a relatively common complaint among patients who have lost a lot of weight, and excess skin can't be made to shrink without removing it surgically.

As the body's weight increases, the skin is stretched to accommodate the mass. When you loose the weight, your body uses the excess fat for energy, but the excess skin is not utilized in the same way. The excess skin unfortunately folds over the new, thinner you, and leaves uncomfortable excess. Further exercises won't take care of this, and that is very unfortunate. Once you reach your personal weight goals, I recommend a consultation with a Board Certified plastic surgeon who can explain your options.
