I recently went to get a consultation from a plastic surgeon and he informed for the best to get most benefit would be to get an upper and lower lift, a circumferentual body lipectomy.
Should a body lift be one surgery or multiple. MULTIPLE usually. Certainly if a member of my family had a body lift I would want it staged. Long involved surgeries come with MORE complications. Be smart and go the staging route. Pain control is also much better. Dr George Commons, MD
Hi, After a Weight Loss of 150 - 200 Lbs Still Having 100 - 125 Lbs. to Go when is It Time to Consider Surgery to Remove Loose Skin?
I am not sure of my starting weight as the scale in the doctors office only went to 400lbs., however based on research, comparing pictures. I have done this weight loss without any surgery, diet & exercise, over a long period of time. Approximently 7 years. The last 1 1/2 years I have been working with a weight management program and it's been helpful. I know it takes a personal consultation to be accurate, so I am just wondering "in general" under these curcimstance what is a common story?
Congratulations. Your are doing fantastic. I am impressed. Would say that once you are at the weight you want to be at for the next 100 years wait one year and start with abdomen first. This may be a little conservative and at times earlier surgery can be a great boost in spirits. My Best.
I am a 49 year old male, who has lost 245 LBS, I have seen four doctors, two think I could get by with a tummy tuck, one thinks a lower body lift, the other a tummy tuck with a horizontal cut. I have had three past surgeries for hernia repair, only one doctor said he would like to see reports from those surgeries. I like him and the one who would do a lower body lift and tummy tuck, he is also much cheaper, will have chest done as well, here is my photo any advise would be nice.
If you have lost 245 lbs and you are in good health, you would probably benefit from the lower body lift. If sagging of the buttocks and posterior and lateral thighs is not a great problem, the abdominoplasty may suffice. With either procedure your surgeon may want to consider removing skin both vertically and horizontally - this would result in the additional inverted "T' scar over the abdomen, but I believe the result would be worth the added scar and would give you a better overall result.
