My philtrum is slightly narrower than my columella at the top, but at my cupid's bow, widens to a point parallel to the lateral inside edges of my nostrils. Beneath this wide philtrum, the vermilion border dips all the way to my lower lip. I hope my description is sufficient, because I couldn't upload a photo. My nose and mouth are of normal width in proportion to my face. Can my cupid's bow & philtrum be significantly narrowed during or in addition to a bullhorn lip lift?
A wide philtrum and cupid's bow can be narrowed surgically, but would add additional scars to the lip which would run along the philtral ridges and would be more noticeable than the bullhorn lip lift scars alone. Another option may be to use an injectible filler slightly medial to the present philtral ridges to give the appearance of a narrower philtral column. Best wishes.
Am I the right candidate for this procedure? Would this procedure make my lips more shapely and fuller? I feel like my lips are just flat with no shape, they are just a straight across line. I am not interested in having big lips, just a more attractive lip shape, and the distance between the base of my nose and upper lip is too long I think, it looks mature and kinda old looking.
If you feel the distance between the base of your nose and the pink part (vermilion) of your upper lip is too long for the rest of your facial features, you may be a good candidate for a lip lift procedure. On the other hand if you feel you would benifit from a fuller vermilion then options such as fillers either hyaluronic acid or fat injections could be considered. Before making a decision, ask your surgeon if they could show you before and after photos of both procedures to see which may bettter accomplish your goals. Good luck.
When performing lip reductions, most notably top lip reductions, does the stomion (lip part) raise higher? I feel like my top lip is very full and my stomion is lower than it should be dragging my lower third of the face down and visually elongating it. It is hard to explain..and it may be just in my head. The ideal proportions has it that the lip part should be at 1/3 of the lower 1/3 section of the face. Thank you for your time!
There are a variety of ways in which to perform an upper lip lift or lip reduction. Depending upon the specific problem, a lip lift can shorten the hieght of the lip (reduce the vertical amount of skin), help roll out or show more of the upper pink part of the lip (vermilion), and/or elevate the corners (commissures) of the mouth. Given your discription, you may be a good candidate for a lip lift procedure. Best wishes.
