Can A Chin Implant Add Vertical Height To A Small Chin?

Hi. I have small chin. From profile view my chin is good. I just need to add vertical height. Can Chin Implants add vertical height? And can Chin Implants a little bit widen my chin?

A: Chin deficiency in vertical dimension

Hello Jey,

The answer is yes. . .to a degree.  Implants are best at giving width and body as well as projection or the horizontal dimension.  Some types of implants can give some height but the best way to address a height issue is an open genioplasty.  This has a longer healing time and higher risks be looks great.

Best of luck

What Are My Options To Treat Dimpling / Pitting in Chin? Is It Caused By My Chin Implant?

What might help the dimpling that has developed in my chin over the last several years? I had jaw surgery (for an underdeveloped lower jaw) and a chin implant in my teens, am now in my mid-30's. Would botox or fillers help? Or could it mean something is going wrong with the chin implant?

A: Chin Crease

The chin crease can be easily addressed with a few different methods with great results.  Fillers are one option but they are temporary and require you to have it reinjected.  There is another non-invasive method that yields longer lasting results. Please consult with a board certified specialist who can assist you.

What Are the Recommended Fillers for a Chin Implant Surgery?

How common is it for a patient to use their own fat as filler instead of readily available fillers in the market?

A: Fillers for Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation

Depending on how much chin augmentation you would like to receive, non-surgical chin augmentation with fillers may be a good option for you.

Because the filler may be place close to the bone and far from the chin, almost any filler can be used for chin augmentation.  In my practice, I prefer Radiesse because it is a little sturdier, and lasts a little longer in this area than the hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane, Juvederm, or Perlane.

Usually one or two syringes my be used for chin augmentation.  I tell my patients, while fillers are a good alternative to an implant if you don't want to have surgery, they only give about 65% of the augmentation that an actual implant would give.

If you like the initial results of fillers, you may consider a longer lasting filler like Artefill, which will last several years.

Good luck in your search for information.
