my insurance won't cover cosmetic surgery, where can I find the money to do the rest of the surgeries to remove extra skin from weight loss?
Thanks for your question -
It is very common for patients to feel frustrated with their appearance after being successful losing weight. You're healthier, feel better but many patients feel they look worse. What can be even harder for patients is after all the hard work insurance companies almost universally do not cover more than surgery to remove hanging abdominal skin.
There are several credit possibilities for financing plastic surgery. Always make sure you're making careful financial decisions. Sometimes the best thing is to wait until better financial times.
I hope this helps!
What exactly is a body lift? Am I a good candidate if I just lost 100 lbs and am dealing with lose and hanging skin? I am trying to find out if it is a lot different than a tummy tuck.
Thanks for your question -
In our San Francisco area practice we perform body lift procedures frequently. A body lift includes an abdominoplasty (resection of skin and fat from the abdomen and tightening of the abdominal wall muscles). But there is additional tissue resected from the flanks and and the back. It typically requires more drains and a longer recovery.
If you've lost significant weight it may be the most effective way to completely transform the way your body looks.
I would like to avoid surgery, but I have multiple skin folds and sagging skin.
A lower bodylift is a combination of an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), outer thigh lift and buttock lift. In essence, the bodylift surgery deals with your midsection. You could consider having an abdominoplasty or a buttock lift separately. However, if you are a good candidate for a lower bodylift, you would get the best results by dealing with these problem areas at the same time through a bodylift operation rather than doing them separately.
