I had cataract surgery with lens implanted in both eyes. My right eye was focused for distance and the left for close-up. Should one eye now be smaller than the other?
The operations were about two weeks apart. My eyes now seem asymmetrical. I noticed it and others agreed. One of my friends even noticed it without being prompted. Is this common?
The appearance of your eyes may be different after cataract surgery. Sometimes, there is more swelling in one eye than the other and your two eyes are at different stages based upon the separation in time. Other things that cause droopiness of your eyelids is stretching of the eyelid muscle due to the eyelid holder used at the time of surgery, a reaction of the eyelid due to irritation of the front surface of the eye and the incisions that were made, reaction to the eyedrops, and swelling. Try to be patient as most of the time resolution occurs. If it still persists after about six months, surgical intervention may help.
One lasik clinic quoted me $2,000 an eye. Another advertises only $299. Is the expensive clinic trying to rip me off? They told me to watch out from something called the "Nidek" brand machines
LASIK is not a commodity and therefore, there will be differences in surgeon's abilities that guide the laser technology, the technology utilized, maintenance of equipment and healing of paitents. Often, low cost LASIK involves inexperienced surgeons, older technology or fine print which adds significantly to the cost. Choose a LASIK center based upon the experience and confidence in the doctor. Make sure you meet the eyeMD who will be performing your surgery.
What is the Max Optical Zone and Treatment Zone that this laser could correct? How good is this laser? So far its been 6 weeks and my night vision only improves when I put on a pair of prescription glasses they gave me minus the halos, glare and starbursting. My left eye is my dominant eye and is -.75 my right is -.25. Will this clear up by 3 months or do I need an enhancement? Headlights are bright in daylight. Is this caused residual refractive error? Just getting nervous night vision.
The maximum myopic treatment is an 8.0mm Optical Zone, but this has to be weighed against extra corneal tissue removed. Transient light sensitivity at 6 weeks can be seen, more related to Femtosecond laser to create the flap, it responds well to short course of anti inflammatory drops. The glare at night and night vision issues are probably related to the small refractive error that is still present, if still there at three months it should respond very well to enhancement and resolve the night vision issues.
