Risk of Infection After Facial Implant?

Could you give me some figures on the prevalence of infections after a facial(chin/cheek/jaw) implant. 1 out of …? How many get an infection? Based on your own experience. And how many of these cannot be treated/healed with antibiotics, but must instead remove their implants? Is it easier to get an infection around a silicone implant than porex implant? Thanks in advance.

A: Facial implants and infections

Hello

Infections are a concern that we take seriously with every surgery.  The incidence of infection depends on the location and surgical approach.  For example, placing a chin implant from inside of the mouth would have a greater risk then the same implant placed from an incision under then chin.  However, implant infections should be relatively low, usually around 1-5%.  Generally speaking, it is more common to have concerns with asymmetry, improper size or patient dissatisfaction then it is to have an infection.

There are many difference between silicone and porex, texture, size, extrusion, ect.  I would not use the risk of infection to base the decision of which implant to use.

Hope this helps.

Chin Implant, Fat Transfer, or a Filler?

I am 26 years old and am considered to have somewhat of a weak chin. I have undergone consultations with 2 doctors for lipo in the chin area and both have advised I do not have enough fat to remove. One suggested a dermal filler to create a stronger chin. What are the approximate cost differences between an implant, fillers and a fat transfer? Also, which filler is best recommended for this area?

A: Fillers for chin augmentation

Hello,

You have asked a very interesting question.  However, it is difficult to have a meaning discussion about the most appropriate options for you without a photograph.
Generally speaking, the preferred options for a weak chin are oral surgery (breaking the bones and advancing them) or an implant.  Implants can be used to increase the projection, the horizontal or vertical widths or your chin.  The type of implant used depending on the size of your chin and the changes that you would like to make.
Fat transfer and dermal fillers are typically not used to augment a recessed chin.  With regards to cost, fat transfer and implants are both surgical procedures requiring sedation, operating equipment, and increased initial expense.  The cost of fillers will be considerably less, but will need to be repeated every 10-18 months.

How Can I Find out which Surgeons Work on Celebs?

I have been considering plastic surgery for years now. I have been waiting to find the best doctor possible for me, and im still researching. I would like to have one of the doctors who hollywood celebs use. They almost always get a fantastic result, and for me thats very important. My question is : How much does it cost for this kind of doctor, and where can i find out who they are? I firstly want to do a chinimplant, and then after do a rhinoplasty. apperciating any answers

A: Celebrity plastic surgery

Hello,

A patient’s right to privacy is paramount in all aspects of their medical care.  As such, the only way to discover which person had which procedure done by which doctor, would be for that person to openly disclose it.  Medical care is one of the few remaining secrets that celebrities are afforded to keep private.

Something else to consider is that many celebrities look beautiful after procedures is because they also look beautiful before them.  I would recommend finding a surgeon by starting in your area, meeting with different providers.  You should be able to judge the quality of their work by their portfolio of before and after results.  You should feel comfortable with your surgeon and be confident that they are a person you can trust.

Hope this helps.
