How Much Does Eyelid Surgery Cost?

How much does a blepharoplasty cost?  Are the prices different for blepharoplasty on the upper eyelids vs. the lower eyelids?

A: Cost of Eyelid Surgery

We perform Upper Eyelid Surgery in our office setting for $2,300.  This wonderful procedure can make such a difference in a person's appearance with little downtime.  Rejuvenating the eye area can instantly create a more youthful appearance.  The lower eyelids are generally performed in our operating room with a light sedation.  The cost for lower lids is approximately $3,500.  Surgery on the upper and lower lids at the same time costs approximately $5,000.

Are There Things Than Can Speed Up the Recovery from Eyelid Surgery?

Is there a recommended diet, cream, vitamin and/or medication that could be taken before and after eyelid surgery to make the healing process efficient and quick?

A: Recovery from Eyelid Surgery

There are a few things we can suggest to speed up the healing time after having eyelid surgery.  Taking Bromelain a few days before and few days after surgery can sometimes help to prevent bruising and swelling. We also suggest that patients do not lay flat for at least 2 weeks.  Elevate  your head when in bed with a couple of pillows. We suggest no heavy lifting, vacuuming or bending over from the waist.  These movements increase your blood pressure and in-turn can promote bleeding.

If eyelid surgery is performed by a qualified surgeon and is a good technician your eyes should  properly after surgery without any difficulty.  If you are having difficulty closing your eyes visit your surgeon, so that he can help you prevent dry eye syndrome.
