Best Remedy for Swelling After Tumescent Liposuction?

What is the best thing to do after Tumescent Liposuction for swelling?

A: How to control swelling after tumescent liposuction

It is very important to wear a good compression garment for at least 6 weeks. It would also help to start arnica montana prior to surgery and continue as directed. You need to be careful of not over doing things, your body is going to tell you if you are. If you notice you are starting to get swelling, it is time to get off your feet. Either sit or lie down and elevate your legs.

Tumescent Liposuction Safe for Patients with Low Blood Pressure?

I have low blood pressure (generally mid-90's over high 50's or low 60's). Is it safe for me to have tumescent liposuction under local anesthesia? I sometimes become light headed upon standing, or if I tilt my head back (as if to look up at something). I also get clammy and light headed when having blood drawn.

A: Your physician will have to decide

This is a very good question. In general many people have blood pressures similar to you however if you are symptomatic (Becoming light headed if you tilt your head back) you will want to discuss this with your physician as well.

Many people get cold and clammy with blood draws and IVs, however these are issues that you will want to discuss with your plastic surgeon in detail.

In general, for most healthy people liposuction can be done in a safe manner awake (under local anesthesia) when done by a board certified physician whom has the appropriate training and is being done in an accredited facility.

Tumescent Liposuction Pain

How painful is Tumescent liposuction if done under general anesthesia? Is it really a lot worse than doing it with local? I'm getting it done in 3 days (Friday morning and I have to go back to work on Monday).

A: Minimal Pain and Minimal Downtime

Liposuction is one of the least painful procedures and anesthesia certainly reduces this.  There will be some soreness later that pain medication usually reduces.  Consider Vaser Liposuction as it tends to be less painful in our hands versus tumescent liposuction alone.
