On 6-22-11 I had my first dysport injection under my eyes. I had zero facial/eye wrinkles. I had it done as prevention. I have full cheeks and now when I smile the skin under my eyes bunches. I noticed on day 3 and it had not gotten any better. Now I am seeing my first wrinkles at rest. What can I do? Will my eyes go back to normal or has this dysport mistake caused permanent damage? Thank you
Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Myobloc) are all temporary--completely. It is not too unusual to see a change in how a muscle contracts (and how the overlying skin wrinkles) when injecting small doses in delicate areas. You have two choices: wait for complete resolution, or actually have a little more injected to further soften the new wrinkled areas.
Good luck!
I had Botox injections for crows feet and it only lasted a month. My Dr then suggested I use Dysport, so I did, and that only lasted a month. Any suggestions on why the product is not lasting that long? I'm paying $310 a month for the Botox, and if I do the Dysport, I'm paying $290. I thought these products were supposed to last at least six months? Please advise. Thanks so much for your time and attention.
The most common reason is the dose used was inadequate. However, you need to consider the dilution and exactly when the dilution was done...how long prior to your injection. Botox and Dysport are not equivalent, but the effect on SNAP 25 (the actual, action site) is the same. If the dose and dilution are correct, then there is the possibility that you have antibodies against the protein of the molecules. This is quite rare, but is possible if you have been exposed to the bacteria that produce the toxins. So first try higher, fresher doses. This will most commonly "fix" the problem.
I had 60 units dysport injected into my forehead and in between my brows for the first time 5 days ago. After 24 hours the bridge of my nose swelled causing my eyes to look wideset. My lids are swollen too. Nothing helps, not ice, benadryl or prednisone (which the plastic surgeon recommended). Do you think my disfigurment is permanent? I'm so upset. Prednisone made things worse My eyebrows are lower closer to the corners of my eyes too. Thanks
Hi slbertram-
I'm sure the effect will not be permanent. Perhaps less units and higher placement of the product next time will give you a better effect. Also, you have a choice in neuromudulators - Dysport and Botox Cosmetic.
Sincerely,
