I had a full tummy tuck one week ago. My waist was very small and my best asset. I had no fat to lipo so the only thing that was done was to pull the skin to rid some stretch marks and get rid of some bad sewing jobs from appendectomy, a laproscopic hysterectomy and a tubal. I weighed 114 the day of surgery and my waist was 26". Today I weigh 119 and my waist is 29".... is this normal? I read somewhere that the waist widens with the tummy tuck. Will this go away to my pre-surgery tiny waist
Thanks for your question.
You are only one week after surgery.
Typically, there is a some swelling after tummy tuck and liposuction.
You will most likely notice a great deal of change and reduction in the size of your waistline.
Please be patient and your skin will shrink and re drape.
Best Wishes.

Hello, I had my 2nd son 6 months ago and am thinking about doing some cosmetic enhancements. I'm 130 lbs and 5'4". I'm not at my target weight of 110 yet. I exercise vigorously 5-6 days a week. I'm thinking about doing some consultations, but it's hard for me right now as I would have to take my 2 year old and 6 month old along with me since I'm currently alone and my hubby wont be back until a month from now. I would love to hear some input! Thanks!
Congratulations on a great job. You have done much in getting your pre-pregnancy back.
Based on your pictures, you would get the best result with Tummy tuck. Eventhough you are only 6 months after pregnancy most likely your skin would not shrink enough with liposcution alone. T
Tummy tuck allows removal of excess skin, rmoval of stretch marks, and tightening of relaxed and separated muscle. The scar heals well typically and is well-hidden.
liposuction is only effective in reducing the thickness of fatty layer. Liposuction is best for individuals who do not have excess skin, do not have stretch marks, and those with good skin tone.
It would be best to examine you in person to give you most accurate and individualized opinion.
Best wishes,

I have 2 questions. I've had tummy tuck exactly 6 months ago and the scar is really visible. will this scar fade away for good??? the 2nd thing is that my stomach skin is sagging, its not tight to my body, how can i make it tight???
Unfortunately, it appears that you were under the impression that a tummy tuck scar would completely fade away. Not the case. Once an incision is made and it invades the dermis, a visible scar will form. The scar maturation process can take over a year to complete. At six months, most of my patients have achieved most of the visible scar tissue maturation.
In terms of skin laxity, only a good exam will tell what the cause is. Was there a need for more skin excision? is there a fluid collection under the skin flap? is there residual swealling?
I would recommend a follow up visit with your plastic surgeon to explore the possibilities.
