Does Damon Braces Work if You Want to Pull All Your Teeth Forward when Missing Some Teeth?

My old orthodontist decided to pull my teeth together without giving me implantss for my four baby teeth that didn't have adult teeth behind them. He started pulling them together with metal braces which hurt me more than it should have so after 5 years he took them off and was going to finnish the processes with a retainer. At this point i still had very noticable gaps where my baby teeth were pulled. I ended up loosing 6 of mu retainers b4 i gaveup. Now i want to try damon braces.

A: It is not the bracket that's important. It's the treatment plan.

Closing space for missing teeth doesn't work for everyone. The decision needs to be based upon your face, your skeleton and the way your teeth fit together. Talk to another orthodontist in your area.  Also ask your general dentist about the way your teeth fit together now and ask for his input.

Permanent and Quick Option for Teeth Gap?

I have a gap between my two front teeth, probably 3 mm wide. I want a permament and quick option. Can you tell me if "tooth bonding" is suitable for me? I've also come across something on the Internet called "tooth effect bands" but I'm not sure I trust them. They're pieces of rubber bands that are supposed to push your teeth together.

A: Invisalign is a better option than bonding

I would recommend Invisalign to close that 3mm gap. It is permanent and relatively quick.  With Invisalign the teeth will be moved and you will have your teeth natural and not filled with material between them that may or may not match shade, size or contour.  Bonding is not permanent and will require redoing sooner or later.

Would a Porcelain Crown Cause my Gums to Darken?

Hi. I had a root canal on my front tooth 10 years ago and now it's quite discolored. I'm about to get a porcelain crown, but am hesitant if it would be the best approach. Should I just leave the discolored tooth alone? I'm not too confident with any of the dentists here on Dublin because it's hard to find information regarding their skills. Also, on occassion, I've seen people with black, darkened lines in between their gums and teeth. Are they cause by Crown or Veneer, may I ask? Any views?

A: Porcelain crowns are natural looking, no dark lines.

Cosmetic crowns are usually always made of ceramic porcelain, 100%.  Newer boding techniques provide an absolute seal between the tooth and the crown with no leaking or dark lines. They look good and feel like your own teeth.  They can last 20+ years, provided one's bite is stable.  Stabilizing the bite is probably the most important reason high quality cosmetic dentistry can last so long.
