I've tried to look online to see when I would be able to afford the procedure, but I have only seen the price on one website, and I wanted to get more information of what other doctors charge.
If you are only seeking a reduction of your hood and nothing else, this can be done as an office procedure under local anesthetic for less than $1500. Be aware that you could become more sensitive due to more exposure and if overdone, can create an unusual appearance.
I just underwent labiaplasty. My surgeon used non- dissolveable stitches as he says it leaves a better scar. I read online that Manuka honey is great at healing wounds. Some sites advocate smearing it directly on vaginal wounds and torn labia after childbirth. Is this hygienic and safe? And effective? If so, how should the active Manuka honey be applied to the wound following labiaplasty? Thank you!!
has been shown to effective in burns and if you saw a website advocting using it in vaginal tears, you can use it according to their published directions. My protocol consists of using a topical antibiotic ointment such as Polysporin or other ointments such as Aqua-phor. This is primarily to prevent your wound from sticking to the dressing and allow the wound to seal itself in the first 24-48 hours.
As for permanent sutures versus absorbable sutures, I can't imagine it makes a huge difference on the final scars as most will be extremely hard to see. If your permanent sutures are used for the outer lips (majora), I find permanent sutures easier in that situation.
I hope your find your healing uneventful and enjoy your results achieved.
I had a labioplasty almost three years ago and the doctor removed both of the labias completely, which was a surprise for me as I just wanted them reduced. She said there's nothing she can do about the clitorial hood. Now I think it looks too disproportionate and the lack of continuity bothers me. I did not let any of my partners or anybody except this doctor to look at my vagina, and now I feel too embarassed as well as I feel it looks so unnatural.Could it be corrected by another operation?
As Dr. Bandy has said, if you're concerned about the clitoral hood as its disproprotionate to the rest of the area, you would be best served by pursuing a reduction of that area as there is no way to correct an overresection of the labia as the tissue is specialized and has unique functions. Do make sure you fully understand what the surgeon plans so you will not be surprised as you were after your initial surgery.
