I was looking like my 82-year old aunt. (a bit of an exaggeration, but the resemblance was uncanny!) Even my mother (83) noticed the resemblance. I wanted to have a more youthful appearance. I interviewed four surgeons. Each was a one-hour consultation. I asked a lot of questions of each and I got some very good information.
Prior to interviewing, I had watched videos of real facelift... more
I have always considered myself to be an attractive and certainly very confident woman. Except for about the last 10 years. I am 49. I had a radical hysterectomy and some complications. I put on a great deal of weight. I have recently lost 70 pounds which resulted in sagging, droopy skin. My relaxed face was a frown. So sick of people telling me to smile! My upper eyelids sagged so much that... more
Ok. This year I'm going to do it. I actually went to a cosmetic surgeon after the second incident of someone thinking I was grandma (2010), and the surgeon (bless her heart) said I didn't need one. Last year, I went again (to the surgeon who performed my upper and lower blepharplasty in 2007) and got a quote of $8300, but I don't think it included a neck lift.
Today I had an appointment with... more
If a picture is worth a thousand words then I could stop writing, but what the photos don’t show is Dr. Moelleken’s excellent bedside manner and what his magic has done for my self-esteem. I’ve never met a doctor with a better bedside manner. I just turned 50 and although I diet and exercise and maintain a general healthy lifestyle, the years were beginning to show—especially around... more
Actually the title says it all...I am a Public Affairs Manager for the southern CA electric utility that serves the majority of the OC. I cover 9 cities and plan to work for at least 8 to 10 more years or more if health and mental capacity allow me to. I felt I needed to look more refreshed...jowls had started to sag making me look unhappy/unfriendly unless I was smiling, my neck was... more
So far, i am a bundle of obsessive nerves. Today is Sat. Surgery to happen next Thurs May 1 is my big day. This is my last weekend before the surgery. i am not having second thoughts. But i am feeling more anxious the closer it gets. I dont look forward to the bruising and swelling. i want it to go well with a smooth recovery. I pray for that and that i will be happy with the result.... more
First of all, thank you for all of these amazing posts. This is giving me the courage to go through with this, (and watching reruns of Dr. 90210). I need post surgical corrections, and also know that i can look better at the ripe age of 53. i have kept up with little procedures over the years to maintain myself, but had decided to take a break, and work on my insides instead. It has definitely... more
Undergoing surgery is never a pleasant experience. Yet because of an excellent physician, going through my last procedure was truly extraordinary. I am thankful that I chose to select Dr Brent Moellenken as my doctor. This medical professional combines thorough expertise with hands-on caring and a talent for putting a patient at ease even in trying times!Of course, a patient’s experience... more
I had a chin implant in late 2011 (from a reputable surgeon), which definitely helped, but did not adequately address, the appearance of my double chin. The chin implant didn't solve the issues of a poor neck angle and loose skin and fat under my chin, which created the appearance of a very bulky neck on an otherwise physically fit 39-year-old man.
I did a significant amount of research... more
After visiting multiples plastic surgeons in Southern California and TJ. I decided to go with Dr Simoni. I had a Simoni face lift on the December 21, 2013.
At firs I was very scared because the bruising, stiffness and swollen.
Today is my third week and I feel very happy with the results. Most of swollen and numbness is gone. My face is getting back to normal. Dr. Simoni told me that I... more
I am 2 & a half weeks away from having my second surgery in 4 months. I have lost 100lbs and frankly my skin laxity has suffered. This has been an interesting journey, I had never really thought I'd have plastic surgery, but after losing the weight I realized I really wanted to look toned, and due to the weight gain that wasn't going to happen unless I had skin removed surgically. My first... more
At 52 years of age I was in the best shape of my life. I took good care of myself through exercise, a healthy diet and a positive attitude. Yet I was self conscious about the loose skin on my tummy (from weight gain in my 30s) and would find myself looking at the rearview mirror in my car while lifting my cheeks saying to myself "what if I could look like this again?" Earlier this year I... more
This is post-op day 9 for me following eight hours' worth of surgery on October 2, and I'm happy to report that things are looking pretty good. I hope that gives some hope and encouragement to others who are apprehensively pre-op or early post-op.
I must say the first three post-op days were rough. There was pain and there was discomfort, mainly in the chin, around the ears (sutures) and... more
I decided to have a revision of my prior facelift as well as a cheek lift. What a wonderful change. Though I am still a little swollen, I am quite pleased with the outcome. I had the procedure done as an outpatient, under general anesthesia. I spent the night in aftercare and did not have much in the way of pain. more
I am a well-known, accomplished 45 year old male surgeon from New York City who sought out Dr. Brent Moelleken and traveled to L.A. for surgical treatment. Dr. Brent did a phenomenal job with my surgery. He is certainly the SURGEON’S SURGEON!! All the long, hard hours of work and lack of sleep took a toll on my facial appearance. My body was in good shape as I exercised often however my... more
I love the upper part of my procedure except to many implants at the time ! Who knew!
I have a large chin that photographs badly which impairs my feeling when interviewed& working!
It does NOT balance my face at all!
I would not have ask for this many procedures if I new what I know now!
Thank you Robin for your great work on my face .
Though I knew by instinct I did not need a... more
I have permanent Bell's Palsy from the birth of my twins. The side with paralysis looks as though I have had a face lift... no lines... but no motion either! When my twins turned 10, I looked very crooked. Dr. Moelleken lifted my "Good Side" because gravity had taken its toll... it lagged below the paralyzed side with lines etc. It was jarring to look at! But... not only did Dr. Moelleken... more
I began to hate having photos taken because all I saw was a sagging, double chin. My profile was horrible. So as a former UCLA employee, with having all my medical issues taken care of by UCLA physicians, it was a no-brainer to find Dr. Rawnsley. His staff is amazing, form his office to the UCLA hospital nurses and doctors. I had a chin lift and face lift, plus he did my upper eye-lids and... more
46 Year old Mother of 4 Kiddos. 21, 15, 12, and 8. I am also getting a TT same day. I live in Calif. I haven't seen many reviews of facelifts... I am nervous but concentrate on preparing everything. I hate my neck and have for several years. I would appreciate any advice and support out there. It would really help me. :)
Here are a few pics of me before. I am 46 and the turkey necks run in... more
I was tired of getting mad with my neck. I just turned 66, and over the years, I’d accepted the change that comes with simply surviving: losing skin elasticity and hormones. I’d lost my jawline, my eyes had craters under them, and I looked tired all the time. I’d tried electro stem facials and all the tiny fixes – the injections and fillers, but nothing seemed to help for long. ... more
