Is the IPL out of style now?
Hi Sea Siren. IPL has always been out of style for our practice because of the other lasers we use. Wether you are targeting redness (V-Beam, V-Star or even pulsed dye) or brown spots (q-swictched Nd:Yg) we believe that lasers will always offer a superior outcome.
While IPL may be a good idea for a practice that only wants to buy one machine, it is the printer, fax, copier of the laser world - and it's not even a laser. We opt for lasers at all times.
I have a lighter circular footprint spot from vbeam laser that was done on my forehead 5 years ago for pinkish post acne mark which i regret doing everyday. I am desperately seeking to correct this, it basically looks like a punched out circular spot on my forehead that no longer flushes red and is lighter than the rest of my skin on forehead.
I have fair skin and get a lot of the color of my skin from the redness/blood vessels. and since they were eradicated in that spot by the vbeam, it has left a demarcated lighter circular spot. can anything be done to correct this?
The loss of "color" to the skin, in your case, is most likely from reducing the number of microcapilaries with the laser. Loss of pigmentation following laser treatment can also be caused by depletion of the melanin production cells in your skin. Hypopigmentation may take months to improve, but it can be permenent. Presently, I would suggest specific skin concealers for blending. Sun Protection is also recommended.
I have very obvious bruising from the V Beam treatment I had on 5/8/09- looks like chicken pox on my nose & inner cheek area. When can I expect to see improvement?
Believe it or not, we actually use the same laser (Cynosure V-Star) to treat the resulting bruising from the original Cynosure laser treatments. For example, when we bruise a patient (purposefully) to treat Rosacea, we have the patient come in 2 days later when the bruising has taken full effect. We then use a lower fluence (lower energy) treatment to remove the original bruises in less then 3 days after the second treatment.
If you are not getting a second laser treatment, then the bruising will most likely resolve in 7-10 days.
