Are patiencts generally happier with the color matching results of porcelain over lumineers?
The short answer is yes. Lumineers ( only a brand name, its all marketing) are meant to be thinner than traditional veneers and harder to match , or have lighter shades.
I want some flexibility with the cost for improving my smile. How often do patients have satisfactory results when they use lumineers and whiten the remainder of their existing teeth? I want to use lumineers on my top 4 front teeth and have the rest whitened to match.
Combination treatments work if done properly. First whiten the teeth you will not veneer, then try to match the veneer shade to the newly whitened teeth. I personally am not a fan of Lumineers , and believe the traditional veneers have much better aesthetic outcome. Good luck.
I read that lumineers can fix crowded teeth in as little as two appointments. How long does it take overall? (http://www.edwardstreetdental.com/Lumineers.html)
In an ideal world, we tell our patients that it should take two major visits. One visit to prepare the teeth for Lumineers ( if any) and one visit to bond the teeth into place. If we feel the teeth are not perfect in fit size contour color etc we may send the veneers back to the lab and another visit would ensue. You have to also work in your consulation appointment, cleaning appointment etc.
Good Luck. Dr. David Frey
